Halloween is coming up soon! It is usually celebrated on October 31st. Here at ELS, we will all celebrate on October 31st as well.
There are many popular ways to celebrate Halloween in the U.S. First, people dress up in costumes. At ELS, many of your teachers will be dressed in costume and you are welcome to wear one too! There are two options for costumes: you can either buy one or make one yourself. If you want to buy one,
look for costume stores in your area. If you want to make one: think creatively. Here are some
ideas for making your own costume. Children go trick-or-treating (dressing up and getting candy from the neighbors) in their costumes, so if you have children look here for
trick-or-treat nights in your neighborhood or ask your neighbors if they know. Also, if you want to participate as an adult, buy bags of small candy to give out to children when they come to your house.

In addition to dressing up, many people like to go to haunted houses. Haunted houses are designed to scare you, and usually include lots of fake blood and fake death. If you like to feel scared for fun, then you'll love this. If you have children, be sure you go to a haunted house that is family-friendly. Many haunted houses are only for adults.
Here is a list of haunted houses in Columbus.

People also like to go pumpkin picking and then make jack-o-lanterns. Take your children to
go pumpkin picking, on a hay ride, and maybe even through a corn maze. When you get home,
make jack-lanterns to put out in front of your house for trick-or-treat night.
