Fall Is Here!

As many of you have noticed, the fall season has begun here in Columbus.  Personally, I love fall!  It's my favorite season of the year.  Here are some great things about fall:

The leaves begin to change colors!  Pretty soon, you'll notice the trees turning yellow, orange, and red.  It's absolutely gorgeous!  Some popular ways to enjoy this are to take early evening walks, go on picnics in a park, go for a drive in the countryside, or take a hike in forest.

Another fabulous thing about fall is the food!  I recommend that you visit one of the many local farmer's markets in Columbus to see all the types of fresh food available.  Apples are especially good in the fall.  They are sweeter, richer, and crisper.  Many people buy fresh apples at the farmer's market or go apple picking in the countryside with their families.  Another popular thing to do is buy apple cider and drink it hot with cinnamon and cloves.  Another food which is fabulous in the fall is squash.  There are many types of squash to try and many ways to cook them!  Some of the best ways to prepare squash is to roast them, stuff them, or make them into soup.

Pumpkins!  One specific food that deserves a category all of it's own is pumpkin.  We make pumpkins into pies, carve them into jack o' lanterns for Halloween, and pick them from farm fields that also have corn mazes.

A few things you may want to buy to prepare for fall:

A fall coat:  For fall you'll need a lightweight coat.  A a few good places to find coats are Macy's, Kohl's, Target, JC Penny's, or Burlington Coat Factory.

A rake:   If you have a yard, then you'll need to clean up the leaves.  A good place to buy a rake is at Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, or Walmart.
